I loved this "Don't Miss This" message!
Joseph is coming home from his mission today
2:00 There is a Purpose in this place. Find out for yourself - What is my purpose in this place?
This will happen over and over again in your life - so this is a skill that we will use for the rest of our lives - how to find purpose in life when our life changes.
4:15 - We have never had a situation like this before - the quarantine and pandemic. Write down what you are learning at this time. We have weeks right now where we can do some really profound learning.
6:10 - We're not going to say that this is not hard.
6:30 - Who are some people from scripture that had to find purpose in the place they were in?
Where else do we find someone who was trying to find purpose in their place?
Some they thought of: Daniel - Esther - Johosophat - Joseph Smith - David
Some I am thinking of:
Joseph
MOSES - went from pharoh's son to shephard, then is life and purpose is changed again when God appears to him in a burning bush.
8:15 - for 40 years, Moses was living a routine life and he was good at it, he found his rhythm, but it got interrupted. (Can we relate?!)
9:00 Moses 1 and Exodus 3
Moses 1:3- the Lord knows that this is going to be hard... this conversation, what he's going to be invited to do... the Lord knows it's not easy. "Behold, I am the Lord God almighty" The first thing he wants Moses to do is to REMEMBER WHO I AM. God is limitless. He is bigger than a quarantine. He knows what to do. He will help us, he knows how to help us. He can do anything, anytime, anywhere.
10:30 So for us to be tempted to think "This isn't going to work for _______ reason" He will find a way. He is always doing his work. He is almighty.
Exodus 3 - God reminds us a little more of who he is. Remember what I've done in the past in different circumstances. Exodus 6 - Abraham's circumstances were very different from Isaac, Isaac's were very different from Jacob, and "Jacob has a very different story than anyone who's ever lived, bless his heart" (lol) Over and over again, notice how many times "I" shows up as the Lord shows us who he is and what he's done.
11:45 Think of all the things you've seen God do in scriptures, and in your own story.
12:10 - Lord, this isn't even working, and I don't know why you sent me. We see that pattern with Moses. "I got this!" then "Why?" and feeling overwhelmed again. Over and over again.
1) REMEMBER WHO GOD IS. GOD is bigger than this. God is endless, God is almighty. He can't be held in or limited by a quarantine. That's not who he is. What do you need to remind yourself of that?
Not "What do you need God to DO?" "What do you need God to BE?" We need God to be good, to be abundant, to be greater than this pandemic and it's fallout.
14:00 Write that: What do you know about God and what do you need him to be right now?
Behold I am the Lord thy God, Almighty.
Genesis 1:4
Behold you are my son.
I will show you everything
2) REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE. You are my son. God has a great work in store for you.
He has a great work in store for you.
Remember who you are in his eyes.
The standard of truth has been erected and no unhallowed hand will stop the work from progressing. He has a plan for you.
To Moses - all this was made for YOU. All of my energies are focused in and on YOU.
17:10 - "I don't know what we're supposed to do.... none of this is working out..." Elder Brown "I am Jehovah, I know the end from the beginning. You'll be fine. You are at the center of all He is doing."
Ephesians 2:10 - A time of great upheaval for the saint of God - NIV version "For we are God's handywork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
Opportunities have been layed out beforehand for you to do.
3) I HAVE A WORK FOR YOU - right now, in this place.
Do you think life has come to a stand still? No, God has work for you to do here.
That's going to require praying, that's going to require reading the scriptures, to discover "Where is your work?"
Avenues may have opened quite a bit. Phone calls, social media, reach people in your wards, minister, neighbors.
Maybe people will reach out to you.
19:30 Our job is to believe he will show us our work in this place
...I'll come finish more notes later, gotta get dinner ready then going to get Joseph!
